Fall Festival

Every year in November the kids school holds a Fall Festival.  Every year you buy wristbands and can do all the rides and activities.  They have food, music, carnival games run by the teachers and different activities.  Last year they had ponies to ride and a petting zoo along with a fun car racing game.  So we loaded up and brought grandma and grandpa Burch with us to have some fun.  Last year they had it in the evening which I actually liked better I think it made it feel more like a carnival atmosphere.  This year they had a lot of the same activities but not as much as they did last year.  The new thing that they did have this year was a jousting thing that Hunter was instantly stoked about.  Avery surprisingly was not interested at all which was weird except maybe for the fact that she was still healing from a pretty hard crash with another kid at school a few days earlier and was stealing healing her busted lip.  Probably why she was a little gun shy,  They both however loved racing their friends through the obstacle bounce house.

Emma couldn't do the obstacle bouncer so she settled for the regular bounce house style which never gets old.  She bounced quite awhile until too many "big kids" were in there and then she wanted to get out.  Ave LOVED the big bouncy slide and once she had seen Avery, Emma decided that it looked like a lot of fun.  So up the stairs she went confidently and Deke and I were amazed that she even wanted to try it.  We watched her, video taping the whole thing, surprised but happy that she was trying it.

Then she got to the top and sat down.  She smiled wide at us as we clapped for her and told her to slide down.  Then the smile faded and she sat and sat and sat.  Kids kept coming up and going down the slide next to her and she sat and cried and clutched onto the slide for dear life.  She wouldn't come down and everytime anyone would bounce down next to her she would go into hysterics.  Awesome.  We sent Avery up thinking she would slide down with Ave....nope.  She just continued to panic and wouldn't move.  After trying and trying to reason with her we were able to talk her down, not the slide of course but to walk back down the stairs.  For crying out loud.  After about a half hour she ran back over to the slide and said she wasn't scared anymore and wanted to go on it.  Deke and I looked and each other and amazingly believed her and let her go up again.  Exact repeat of the first time except this time worse panicking and crying.  Wow.  The people waiting in line that had been there the last time she went up were offering to send their children up to help her.  I am sure they were wondering what they heck Deke and I were doing letting her try it again.  So we went through a repeat of the last time until I had had enough.  I told Avery to go up and take her by the arm and slide down with her.  I told Ave even if she cried to tell her it would be okay and then made her slide down with her.  Ave looked at me questioningly and I repeated myself and told her she was going to have to make Emma do it and she had my permission.  Looking unsure about all of this Avery headed up to the top of the slide and sat down by a distraught Emma who instantly started protesting this plan.  Ave looked at me and I nodded to remind her of my approval of said plan and she said something to Emma then wrapped an arm around her and tugged her down the slide.  Emma wide eyed as if she was about to go down a drop the size of splash mountain.  They got to the bottom and Em's little head popped up from the exit.  "That was so fun!!! I love that slide!!" She told us laughing and giggling.  "I want to slide again!"  she excitedly exclaimed.  Deke and I exchanged a quick glance, "sorry kiddo" we told her not falling for it this time.

Hunter's first attempt at the jousting was against a boy much bigger than him and resulted in a pretty good pummeling.  He was determined to make a comeback.....
He started going up against people his size, some of his friends.  It was really fun to watch when they were properly matched up size wise because the battle lasted a lot longer.  I am not gonna lie this looked like a lot of fun and I wished that I could have tried it.   Hunter loved it.

Like last year Ave man handled the rock wall, that girl has always been a climber.
Hudson did a whole lot of this and looked absolutely adorable doing it.......
Emma's favorite activity of the day was the duck pond game.  Except that she didn't actually want the prize she won she just wanted to take one of the ducks.
They had a SWAT vehicle there which I think every boy on campus was excited about since they got to go inside and check out the inside and climb up and sit in the front seats.

End off the day with some cotton candy...note the two year old pouting since she can't have her very own and has to share :)  A fun Saturday get out of the house activity
