The framing stage

Last weekend Deke and I headed over to the west valley to start construction on this project of ours. Him and his dad are building the house together. I am so grateful that his dad has been able to help him build and it is neat to me that they are getting to work on it together. Both his mom and dad have been a huge help getting this thing built. Up top picture is Deke with the house base and picture below is the first framed wall.

A couple of pictures of the guys hard at work.

The front of the house, you can see the spots where it has been framed for the door and front window. I was trying to figure out what to do for the windows and Nalene had a great idea. Off we headed to Goodwill, plexiglass from a couple of old frames at Goodwill for $4.99 that fits the windows perfect. Add some fifty cent wood trim from their scrap lumber cart to make some panes and you have a perfect mini window for a house. Some pictures of its frame minus the pieces of the front porch for the railings and its roof. It is turning out really cute. If it looks this good at this stage I can't wait to see it once it gets its walls and paint. I love that Deke knows how to do projects like this, we are having so much fun with it. We are both getting sooooo excited for the kids to see it on Christmas morning. Until then......
