About an hour before the party, mom, Deke and I made batches and batches of frosting, iced the cakes and prepped the different colored decorating bags with different fun tips.
When the girls got there we first got them all outfitted like chefs and then headed to the "bakery" to begin practicing using the different decorating tips. I had made practice sheets for them to try out different frosting tips like rosettes, leaves, stars and teardrops. They spent the first half hour learning how to hold the bag, apply the right amount of pressure to pipe out the frosting and complete their practice sheets.
Every single one of the girls at some point commented that it was harder than they thought it was going to be. It was neat to watch them all really have to practice and learn a new skill. They soon were getting the hang of it and did a good job filling out their entire page.
Once they knew how to work the bags they were anxious to get going on their actual cakes.
It was SO fun to watch them come up with their different designs and decorate their cakes. They all had their serious faces on working hard to design their cake.
The girls all piled on the couch and watched an episode of Cake Boss where one of the guys skydives with the cake. Deke went and got pizzas and they ate and watched. After presents it was time to eat cake and Avery wanted her decorated cake to be the birthday cake so we put some candles in it and sang to her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY our sweet Ave!!!! Eight is gonna be great!!!!
