Thursday, Friday, Saturday...

We kicked off the weekend early on Thursday with Hunter's end of school year celebrations and pizza party at school. Avery had a playdate with Claire and spent about twenty minutes picking out the two pairs of shoes that I would let her bring for them to play "dress up" Finally decided to bring her pink feather and purple Ariel heels. It was so funny to watch her stand at her dress up shelf and pick a pair up and then put it down trying to decide which ones. She then brought me a comb and spray bottle and requested a pony "on the side" with this particular hot pink flower because it "matches my shirt." I LOVE GIRLS!!!! I am so enjoying all their little feminine quirks and tendencies. They are such sweet sisters. There is seriously very few things better than a sister. I love that they have each other. Friday we had a relaxing day at home sleeping in and playing games, coloring, going for a walk. Friday night we went out to eat and then per Hunter's request watched the Beiber movie Never Say Never. Which I have to admit was very interesting and I do think that he is talented and adorable. Hunter's version of "Baby" complete with dance steps provided much entertainment to say the least. His version of the "heart pump" move that Beiber does in his video is absolutely classic. You would have to see it to truely appreciate :) Next morning we headed to the Arizona Natural History Museum which was really fun. Tons of dinosaur fossils included a giant mammoth fossil, t-rex and triceratops. They had so many neat things to explore. They had an exhibit set up called Dinosaur Mountain with dinosaurs replicas that every twenty minutes "came to life" when a flash flood hit complete with a rushing waterfall, thunder and lightning. The kids loved it.
The kids thought this statue was hilarious. It reminded them of the guy off of Night at the Museum that says "Dum dum want gum gum?Outside there was more hands on activities. The kids got to pan for gold and were given little baggies to bring home their loot. Then it was over to the "dig pit" to experience being a Palentologist and get to dig up dinosaur fossils. The kids loved this. It was probably their favorite part. They dug and dug until they were all three bright pink and too hot to dig anymore.

Hunter picked out a really fun "Fossil kit" which contained a sand brick and inside were all the jumbled up bones of one of four different types of dinosaurs. They provided a sort of pick and fossil brush for tools and away he went chiping and brushing. It was really cool. Slowly he worked away and would find a bone at a time and kept dusting it off and working with it until he could pull it out. After forty five minutes he had found all the bones and cleaned them all off. Then he assembled them together to form a minature Orithmosaurus, It was a really neat activity, he had a lot of fun with it and of course enjoyed ever moment of experiencing what it was like to "be a real Palentologist."
