Sunday, Monday

So our memorial day weekend continued... Sunday we headed to Good Sam to visit my Grandpa who has just recently been diagnosed with cancer. He just had surgery done on his spine where they put a rod in and removed the mass. He is doing really well and they haven't found any other signs of the cancer anywhere else thank goodness. Deke and I went and visited with him for a little while first and then brought the kdis back over to see him. They were so good at the hospital. They had all colored him pictures, Hunter drew a picture of him and Grandpa snorkeling in Hawaii and Ave drew him a race track and brought him a Hotwheel car to use with it so he could play when "he got bored" she told us. We hung the pictures up in his room and spent some time with him. Miss E even handed Ariel over when Papa asked to hold her which never usually happens for anyone. She reached out and gave Ariel to him and he started making Ariel pretend to dance. Emma loved this and found it quiet entertaining. She started giggling for Grandpa and giving him huge toothy grins. I was happy to catch this moment of them together. We love him so much and know that Heavenly Father is aware of him and is watching over him. Monday after a nice little sleep in we headed to the splash park over in Chandler. It was a pretty good one, not as nice as the west valley one and definitely crowded because of the holiday weekend. Hunter and Avery had fun running around with the other kids and splashing in the sprays. Hunter was bummed that this one didn't have water cannons and Avery kept making new friends along the way. Emma however was not a fan. When we first got there I tried to put her down and she started out cautiously to check it out. Well the sprays alternate so a few will shoot up for a few minutes and then a few minutes later new ones will shoot up. Every time new sprays would start all the kids would yell and scream with excitement which of course scared Emma half to death and she would start crying and trying to climb up Deke or I. She has never liked loud noises. Vaccum, cheering at a football game, Deke yelling at the TV refs on a Suns game, screaming even happy excited screaming...all scares her. Every time we would convince her to try to walk around and check it out she would just get comfortable and start to play and then the screaming. Poor baby. So we resolved to just holding her and letting her touch the water from our arms. She liked it okay. But she looked so cute. What is it about baby swimsuits with their little diaper butts, ruffles on the legs and bums and adorable oversized beach hats strapped under chins with chubby cheeks hanging down over them and is well...absolutely adorable and delicious. Fun to have the kids get to get in the water some. So excited for more swimming and getting anxious for the Hawaiian beach, snorkeling, finding crabs, more work on learning to surf. Can't wait. So excited.
