This spring Hunter gave basketball a try. We signed him up through the Y on the Suns team. It was really neat to watch the way he progressed as a player from the first practice to their last game. He was the point guard and the team captain. It was fun to watch the ball get passed in to him and then watch him help set up the plays and pass the ball off to assist in some good shots.
He was a great defender and always kept up a good hustle on the court. The thing that impressed me the most though was his sportsmanship. They had a rough season and didn't win a game all season and he handled it so well. At one of the games a guy from the other team got tripped up and hit the floor hard. The rest of the team was already headed back down the court when Hunter went over and offered him a hand and said, "hey man are you okay?" It made my heart swell. There were many moments like that this season. Watching him help lead his team through a frustrating season made me so proud of the leader he continues to become. Cheering with the sisters and watching him play was a blast, it was a great season.
