Out in the garden

The garden keeps growing and we are all having so much fun with it.  Just when the weather got too hot for our strawberry plants, the tomatoes and the peas having been going crazy.  Every time I head out to water the kids hurry to grab shoes and head out there.  They love to help water and then go pick anything that is ready.
They each grab a handful of peas, then go over and rinse them with the hose and eat them.  Hudson has watched them do this and the other day he walked over and pulled one off and then we watched as he went over to where the hose was dripping at the seal and held it under to rinse it.  After a few seconds he tossed it into his mouth and then grinned at us, proud of himself.  He loves that he knows how to pick them off on his own.  It was so cute.
Ave's sunflowers have been getting taller and taller and then finally last week one started to bloom.....
They are so bright and happy to look at.  It has been so nice to see color in the backyard instead of just brown brown brown.  I can't wait until they all bloom and hope that they will continue to grow to just over the top of the fence.  The other day I had the little three go outside and stand by the tallest one so they could see how tall it is starting to get.
I caught a cute pic of these two gals from the backside with their hips cocked to one side as they watered the tomatoes the other day.  Oh this garden has been so fun for all of us.  I can only imagine how much fun we will have with an actual yard, grass and a climate that things will thrive in.  I look forward to learning so much more and getting opportunities to can things.  For now however we are loving our little patch of green.
