Balboa park

I always love going to Balboa park, there is so many things to see and do there and just walking around the architecture and the gardens are so beautiful.
We walked all around the park seeing everything we could .  We went to the Museum of man to see their ancient Egypt exhibit that included mummies.  When you first walked in they had some Mayan artifacts.  It was pretty interesting but also crazy to see what a bloodthirsty people they were.
We were all laughing because Hudson kept going up to the skeletons and the skulls and pointing at them and saying "ew, ew, ew."  It was so cute.  They had a replica of a cave that seriously looked like a small set out of an Indiana Jones movie that the kids kept wanting to walk through.
The kids "dug for fossils,"
Had their names printed in egyptian hieroglyphs.
We got to see mummies and learn about ancient egypt.  It was sad to learn the story of the young woman that they found mummified in a cave, they estimate that she had been about 7 1/2 months pregnant at the time of her death.
I really liked seeing the different sarcophagus that they had on display.  The detailed paintings on them were beautiful.  It was really really interesting, I wish I had had time to read more about each item and some of the history.
The museum had an area for kids where Emma could sit on the throne like Cleopatra which she loved and they each pretended to be mummified.
Hudson loved the stuffed crocodiles that were in the Nile and kept trying to feed them play food and give them kisses.
The kids played for quite awhile before we headed out to check out some other exhibits.  The weather was amazing all day.  Everything in San Diego is so green and there is always so many things to see and do there.  We spent the entire day down there and then headed home for dinner and games with Kimbre and Garrett.
